Pruning more than 10% of a canopy in 12 months also needs a permit. - Within 3 m of a house or pool council will permit removal, but you must still apply and be approved first. - Exempt species (no permit, unless heritage): includes cocos palm, Canary Island date palm, camphor laurel, large- and small-leaf privet, liquidambar, radiata pine, umbrella tree, coral tree, rubber tree, weeping fig, silky oak, Leyland cypress, loquat, black locust, Lombardy poplar, most fruit trees and listed weeds. - Exempt work: minor pruning up to 10% of the canopy in 12 months, storm-damaged limbs (the damaged part only), branches directly over a roof cut back to the nearest junction (with the owner's agreement, to AS 4373), a tree that is an immediate and obvious danger (you must be able to prove it), and clearing under the RFS 10/50 Code. - Fees: $213 application ($90 pensioner); $45.50 with an independent TRAQ report.
